Multipurpose Queen

Scripture

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)

Devotional

When we think of our life’s purpose, we may believe it means a single mission. However, we have several purposes to which God may call us throughout our lifetime.

We all play different roles and have multiple titles that may require various talents, skills, and versions of ourselves. Therefore, we serve several purposes.

Our purpose can change depending upon the season of life we are in or the situations we encounter. We may serve a different purpose in motherhood than we do in our career. We may be called to serve two different purposes in two different ministries at church. Our purpose in our twenties may change, grow, and expand in our thirties.

Furthermore, our purpose consists of more than grand achievements. It also includes the small gestures of kindness and love that we extend to others. Every smile, every word of encouragement, every act of compassion that is orchestrated by God can have a profound impact on someone’s life.

Every time we help someone in need, we’re fulfilling a purpose. Every time we make someone laugh, we’re fulfilling a purpose. Every time we do something kind for no other reason than to show someone love, we’re fulfilling a purpose. By embracing both the big and small moments of life, we can discover a sense of purpose that transcends our individual accomplishments and connects us to something greater than ourselves.

Reflection

Each day we rise with breath in our lungs and blood running through our veins, we have a purpose to fulfill. For anyone who may be dealing with feelings of purposelessness or is on a journey to discover their purpose, remember to not discount the small, everyday purposes God assigns you.

At the end of each day this week, spend 5 to 10 minutes writing down how God used you that day. Think of how you helped someone, made someone smile, or shared the love of Christ via your words or actions. Whether small or grand, may we never underestimate our power to make a difference in the Kingdom.
